Breaking Ground and Building Futures: Hindmarsh Development Complete for Kāinga Ora!
We’re thrilled to announce the successful completion of our latest civil engineering project at Hindmarsh for Kāinga Ora! This significant project marks a key step in Kāinga Ora’s mission to provide safe, warm homes for New Zealand families, and we’re proud to have played a role in bringing this vision to life. Here’s a closer look at who Kāinga Ora is, what we accomplished, and how our team made it all happen.
Who is Kāinga Ora?
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is New Zealand’s largest provider of public housing. With a focus on creating sustainable, thriving communities, Kāinga Ora helps ensure that families across the country have access to affordable, high-quality homes. Their work is a vital part of New Zealand’s housing landscape, and they partner with businesses like ours to make these communities a reality.
The Job: What We Did
Our role in the Hindmarsh development involved completing the entire civils package for 29 new homes. This was no small task, and it required a coordinated team effort from start to finish. Here’s a quick look at what we achieved:
- Demolished 7 houses to clear the site for the new development.
- Removed 15,000 tonnes of earth, reshaping the land for construction.
- Installed 1,400m² of timber retaining walls, some as tall as 5 metres.
- Poured 350m³ of concrete to create stable, long-lasting foundations.
- Used 200 tonnes of reinforced steel to ensure strength and durability.
- Completed full civil servicing, including essential infrastructure work like drainage and utilities.
How We Made It Happen
The project was completed in carefully managed phases, starting with the demolition and earthworks. Our team then moved on to constructing the timber retaining walls, pouring concrete, and reinforcing the site with steel. Finally, we wrapped up with civil servicing to make sure everything was ready for the next stage of development.
Each step was meticulously planned and executed by our talented teams, who worked tirelessly to deliver the highest quality results. This project’s success is a testament to their hard work, expertise, and dedication.
